My angels have accepted that they are brothers and now they can really act like ones. Päivät muuttuivat madellen viikoiksi ja kukat faijan yöpöydällä vaihdettiin aina vain uusiin ikuisuudelta tuntuvan ajan. Mä istuin sängynreunalla ja silitin hiljaa peitolla lepäävää kättä. Hengitys kohoili rauhallisesti, mutta rahisten isin nukkuessa päiväunia. Kellon sekuntiviisari raksutti hitaasti eteenpäin illan hämärtyessä hiljaa sälekaihtimien takana. Mä siirsin katseeni ulos ja huomasin ilmassa leijailevat lumihiutaleet, jotka kimaltelivat lievästi kallellaan olevan katulampun kalpeassa valossa. Mun silmät etsiyty takaisin nukkuvaan faijaan ja siitä taas seinäkelloon, jonka pikkuviisari osoittaisi pian numero kuutta. Mä hengähdin syvään ja katsahdin oven pienestä ikkunasta autiolle käytävälle. Hitaasti ja hiljaa mä aloin laulaa kertosäettä HIM:in So close to the flame – kappaleesta. Mä pysäytin hihallani kyyneleet ennen kuin ne ehti valua poskille.

Mä en muista siitä päivästä paljoakaan. Kun uudet kukat tuotiin viimeisen kerran huoneeseen 5, mä seisoin oven vieressä ja katsoin miten nuori sairaanhoitaja suoristi ties kuinka monetta kertaa peiton kulmaa. Hoitaja soi mulle osaaottavan katseen ja meni sitten käytävään puhumaan faijan naisystävälle. Isosisko oli käytävän penkillä istumassa kasvot haudattuina hihoilla peiteltyihin käsiin ja mutsi piteli itkusta tärisevää tytärtään yrittäen näyttää vahvalta. Mä seisoin yksin huoneessa, jota valaisi ainoastaan yöpöydän lamppu. Tai olihan siellä isi. Pois lipunut, ikuisuudeksi vaiennut ja eloton isi. Mä kävelin hitaasti sängyn vierelle ja nostin kättäni. Pienen hetken mä epäröin, kunnes laskin varovasti sormieni ulkosyrjän isin ohimolle ja hidas silittävä liike jatkui parrankarhealle poskelle. Sillä hetkellä mun sisällä meni jotain rikki, jotain jonka kaikkia sirpaleita ei koskaan löydettäisi, jotta sitä voisi korjata. Ja mä itkin. Eikä ne kyyneleet ole koskaan kuivuneet täysin.
