“As your past lover tried to save you?” Jin asks. Somehow he knows, somehow he understands, and she simply nods again, not letting go of her smile for a second.
The silence falls again, the comfortable silence.
But later when it’s after midnight and Jin is sitting on the edge of his (sanity, his mind insists) bed with the bedroom lights on, the voices of the laughers can be heard again for the first time in two years.
He shivers.
