The Bible cannot be used as an argument for this. It is not the literal, God-inspired truth due to obvious internal contradictions (man created after / before animals, 2 / 7 pairs of each animal in the ark, Matthew and Luke list a different ancestry for Jesus). The Bible is written by fallacious people.
There is no basis for interpreting the Bible either. The Bible does not provide any clues regarding which parts are metaphorical and which literal. We cannot use our gut feeling either, because obviously, that is different for everyone.
Therefore the Bible must be interpreted like any piece of literature: Scientifically and critically. When read in this way, it is obviously a historically inaccurate book of epics and tales for controlling people.
