Veera thought back to the beginning of the year. Her sweetie, Edward, had surprised her with a prom request. Edward had done it all old school with a hand written note. It was slipped in between the pages of her algebra book and read, "Will you go to prom with me? I'll kiss you forever." Veera smiled and wrote back with an underlined "Yes."
The day had finally come.
Veera spent hours combing the malls in search of the perfect outfit. When she finally found the long Victorian gown with a tulip skirt, she sighed in relief. And to think, it only cost 111 dollars. She also found an awesome pair of matching shoes.
Veera decided to do her own hair and makeup. She wanted to look like old Hollywood glamour so she wore her hair in a French braid. She applied lots of black eyeliner along with black lipstick to complete the look. She was ready.
And so the night began...
When Edward arrived, Veera was searching for her keys. Edward waited in the living room with her parents and the dog. "You are as cute as a newborn baby lion!" Veera heard her mom say.
When Veera saw Edward, she stepped back a little. Edward looked hot in a snazzy white tails, striped cumberbund and two-tone wingtips. Veera's parents ushered them into the bedroom to take pictures. They held hands and smiled big. Her parents took dozens of pictures from every angle.
They rushed through good-byes. "Have fun!" Her parents said.
Finally, they escaped...
At dinner, Veera checked out the other couples. Edward had rented a stretch limo and it totally outshined everyone else.
When they arrived at the site, Aki ohtonen was greeting everyone with the principal. There were rumors that the two had a secret romance going on, but no one knew for sure. They made a cute couple, despite the inherent creepiness of the situation.
The music was bumping and the dance floor full of people. Veera was excited. Her favorite band, Route L, was on stage. Everyone was doing the robot, but Edward didn't know how. Veera ended up laughing with her friend Jaana while Edward disappeared.
It was going to be a long night...
Veera decided to go look for her missing date. The last dance was about to begin and she didn't want to miss it. She finally found Edward in the parking lot.
Edward was sitting in the car, punching the steering wheel. "What's wrong?" Veera asked. "I didn't want to tell you this tonight, but...I decided to stay here." Veera and Edward had planned on going to the same college. They were supposed to move together the following week.
"Well, let's make tonight special," Veera said, "We can worry about that tomorrow." She held Edward's hand as they walked back to the building. Inside, she was so pink she could scream. The opening lines of the last dance began. Edward held her tight. Veera rested her head on Edward's shoulder and closed her eyes.
