Welcome and transfer from the airport to Barreiro
Settle with the host families
October 5th
Visit to Lisbon (St. George Castle, historical centre, Parque das Nações)
Dinner at school (sponsored)
October 6th
Meeting at school – presentations on each country’s traditional sports
Lunch at school (sponsored)
Nature Activities (Orientation, MountainBike) in Mata da Machada (Machada Woods), in Barreiro
October 7th
Trek in the Arrábida Mountains (30 mins south of Barreiro). This is a 3-4 hour walk, within a natural park, with some of the best sightseeing in southern Portugal. The trail ends in the Portinho da Arrábida beach. You should bring a tshirt, sweat-shirt, jeans, confortable footwear and a light raincoat (just in case it rains – lets hope not…one of those plastic coats will do)
Lunch will be sandwiches, and we will eat it on route
For those who do not wish or can’t do this walk, we will arrange a tour of a wine sellar, and the city of Setúbal. You should tell us as soon as possible if you do not wish to go on the nature walk.
In the afternoon there will be beach games, with beach volleyball and kayaking.
Dinner will be traditional Portuguese sardines, grilled in charcoal, near the beach. We will cook our own meal.
