Personally i believe that Humans are an animal race among others, but we are superior because of our intelligence... Armed with that intelligence we have created order in the world by creating massive communities.
Wrote some text concerning this whole thing some months ago... No references but i'd still love to hear if there are any similar views or anything that contradicts what i've said.
"Humans are pack animals, without the community there is no individual. The concept of self is build by the way you see people around yourself. The image of how you are is made from comparisons you make in your mind, this determines whether you think you are smart, stupid, and so on. There are no definite facts on such things, yet it's how you build the image of yourself. There also exists a true-self, which is the sum of all your personalities, it is your trueself that does the thinking and therefore affects the way you are, which in turn makes the image of yourself in other peoples minds. Their reaction to yourself is what will change how you seem on the eyes of others and yourself.
Everyone sees every person differently, all these persons are the same person yet they are different, all of them are you and the sum of them is you aswell. The true-self rarely is the same as the self as seen by others, and as seen by your true-self, this is the reason you might end up hating or disliking yourself. Disliking yourself is not a bad thing, it is a natural thing and it is what makes you improve yourself.
Humans are an animal race as any other, their superiority in nature is simply because of their intelligence. Intelligence is something that grows on every single human, it is not there when you are born. There are those who claim it is because of a soul that we are superior, and i agree with that. Soul is the same as your true-self, it is what does the thinking and affects the way your body reacts."
