From the depths of YT, some lone evangelist felt that my critique of a video concerning near-death experiences talking about heaven&hell were somewhat anti-christian, so he/she decided to try and convert me with a written message. I'll share the the original and my response for everyone to enjoy.

And how I replied? Well it goes a little bit like this:

I don't mind the disturbance, but I do mind the tone. Passive aggressive death-threats and promises of either eternal servitude or torture.

Where would I want to be? A place as far away from your kind as possible. Where the thought-process is valued more than preordained and fixed values that are not to be questioned, even if one can show their short-comings compared to the rival method.

I very much doubt that you love me. I'm fairly certain that you wouldn't even care about me if we met, since I'm propably the only friend you'd have who will tell you outright what I think. And I tend to not sugar-coat it either.

"Think about ETERNITY". Ok. The timespand of eternity is such an enormous undertaking no human is able to comprehend it. Our mind boggles when talking about thousands, let alone millions. When you've done all the things you've ever thought of doing, read everything, studied everything, what next? Play chess for the next millenia? Worship an egotistic sadist that gave you a "fair choice" of either eternal torment or come join his little fanclub? And since you're threatening me with hell, I'll go ahead and assume that you're advocating for the specific torment-type of hell, not the "absence of the presence of god"-kind of soft-core eternal imprisonment.

However, I took a good look at the bible and christianity. I was a devout believer for several years, spreading the love and the message. It was only when I started to actually think what I said and tried to find the answers in the bible that I found out that it was all circular and standing on lies and deceit. I realised no one had the answers, because there wasn't any to be had. So I went outside religion for answers.

And I found them. All the answers were waiting right there for everyone to see, just outside the dark room of religion, where no evidence is needed and indeed can't be presented.

Jesus might be the only way to your heaven, although you can also interpret from the new testament that everyone goes to heaven(1 Tim. 4:10, 1 John 2:2, Romans 11:32, to name a few). In light of these passages alone plus the general theme of salvation and sacrificing the son of god for all mankind that is going on in the new testament, one could argue with quite compelling biblical support that I am indeed going to heaven, even if I do not believe in your god.

After telling me that jesus is the only way you're telling me to forsake my sins. The problem with this is that I don't sin. Before you tell that I'm a liar and therefore a sinner: Sin is in its entirety a concept that attaches to the christian faith and isn't applicable to those who do not recognise this religion as their own. I don't sin, because I don't view any of my actions as sin, only good or bad. Even still, good and bad aren't divided by any standards the bible lays out, not even close. The bible or any nomination of christianity I've come across is riddled with contradictions and rules I don't see any place in the modern world and that I'd view as having a degenerative effect on the society in general.

The "testimony of hell"-video is plain stupid. It is already fairly well studied and understood that when the brain is dying or is generally oxygen-deprived, it will generate amazing visions and depending on the part which shuts down first, euphoric bliss or torment beyond belief. Isn't it funny how the accounts are generally linked with the dominant religion in the personal life of the experiencer, rather than just one particular religion and whatever religious symbols they hold sacred? You know why? Because it's all made up by a dying brain. Old memories might bring distant and dead relatives to visit you, maybe pearly gates and pious peace, maybe anguish and anxiety, abundant against all expectations.

If you choose to respond to any other months-old message I have, please prepare the message better than this overused selection box of platitudes you offered me now. And if my tone was somewhat too nasty to your liking, it's only because of my personal disgust to the brainwash you've propably been through from infancy up to adulthood. I can respect your choise of religion if you've done it after you've grown up and studied the alternatives and made your mind up about all the evidence. Judging by the weak offense you tried to make me see "your god", you are not one of those believers and therefore, I'm sorry for you.
